Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension is used to treat middle ear and sinus infections caused by susceptible isolines of the bacteria Staphylococcus spp. There are nofficiencies in the treatment of middle ear infections in children who are unresponsive to penicillin. Penicillin will not treat middle ear infection in the absence of other contraindications. Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension contains Amoxicillin, which has antibacterial and antiprotozoal activity against Streptococcus spp. and Morbidex. Penicillin will not treat Staphylococcus spp. Sulfonamides will not treat Morbidex. Amoxicillin is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to this product. Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension will not relieve symptoms of middle ear infection in children who are non-responsive to penicillin.
